Some Videos Cause a Crash
« on: November 23, 2021, 12:42:03 am »

I just installed MC28 on Windows 10 PC and found that some MP4 videos I try to play crash MC28.  These files work fine in other media players, e.g. Windows Media Player on the same PC, Quicktime on Mac.  The video files that don't work with MC28 are also rare.  So far I have successfully played several dozens MP4 videos with MC28 and only found 3 that crash MC28.  Nothing apparent was shared by these errant video files, i.e. different cameras, different storage media, etc.

-App Not Responding, requiring me to kill and restart MC28.
-This may not be specific to MP4 files, but so far I have only found MP4 files that have this issue.

Some posts here indicate it might be a problem with Windows Defender, so I did all the recommended file and folder exclusion.  The problem persists.

I'm wondering if anyone else has this problem.  I was not able to find any posts about it.

In MC's Video settings, are you using Red October HQ?  Try RO Std and JRVR.

Thanks for responding.  I double-checked and my video is set to RO Standard.  My computer is also fast and the same computer plays these video clips in other player apps.

Try Red October HQ and JRVR.

Antivirus is a common cause of crashes.

It would help if you have a sample you could post somewhere for others to test.

Some of my video mp4 files (Twitch downloads of my gameplay stream) have had trouble playing in MadVR, but JRVR handles them no problem.
