Deepin Linux 20.4 64-bit GNU/Linux Problem
« on: March 09, 2022, 04:21:40 pm »

I installed Deepin Linux 20.4 64-bit GNU/Linux and I made a bunch of system changes to the installed software packages, libraries, and dependencies that affected JRiver Media Center 28.0.105 AMD64. Whenever I open it up, it keeps losing my media library as if I had reset my entire media library and it is empty. I tried to restore from a recent media library backup file and it kept losing my entire media library so it appears empty and I re-imported my media library and restarted the program and it kept losing my media library so it appears empty.

How do I get technical information sent to your company so you can help me fix it? I am sure that this is my fault because before I made a bunch of system changes to the installed software packages, libraries, and dependencies, Media Center 28.0.105 AMD64 was working just fine. Do I need to reinstall Deepin Linux or switch to Ubuntu 20.04.4 64-bit LTS or can I reinstall the required software packages, libraries, and dependencies to get this fixed? How do I send logs to your company?

Please don't send logs.  It's an unsupported Linux.  Use Debian or another distro that has good instructions on our board.

Hello:
I tried Deepin twice.
The first install lasted maybe three
weeks, and crapped on me.
The second attempt lasted a few days on my server.
It is filled with chaos and headache.
though eye pleasing, it is NOT worth the headache associated with the use of it
Thanks.
George.

Yes, I wouldn't recommend Deepin either. Honestly with MC29 coming I wouldn't recommend Ubuntu 20.04 LTS either as it's nearly two years old (with relatively old dependencies) and Ubuntu 22.04 LTS should be released within two months. I'd honestly recommend using Debian Bullseye or Ubuntu 21.10 or just waiting until Ubuntu 22.04 LTS final is released. Fedora (using the simple and easy installJRMC script) is another option, this is what I'm personally using these days and Media Center runs perfectly.

If you're wanting to use Deepin, you're on your own there since running Media Center on anything that isn't Debian isn't supported by JRiver and any issues you encounter you'd have to figure out yourself.

I don't work for JRiver... I help keep the forums safe from "male enhancements" and other sources of sketchy pharmaceuticals.

Deepin is based on Debian, so I would imagine it might be possible to work it, but as said above we cannot provide support for every distribution out there, especially lesser known ones, so unless you happen to run into someone that has run MC on it before, you are probably mostly on your own.
