German TV
« on: April 12, 2022, 06:31:53 am »

Does anybody of the other users have a Fritzbox and German cable TV with DVB-C?
The exported Fritzbox .m3u files are working with VLC but not with MC.
MC recognises the 4 DVB-C channels of the Fritzbox, I can import the m3u files, the channels show up,
a double click on one of them opens a full window but that appears white and disappears after two seconds.

The Fritzbox is a device that streams your DVB-C channels on your network?

Do you get any error messages besides just getting a blank screen?

Please email me the Fritzbox.m3u file.

Also please turn on logging in MC.  After trying to play a channel, get the logs and email them to me as well.  Thanks.

Its a cable router that can also take the DVB-C signal and stream it, yeah, since its already sitting on the cable anyway.

The latest build includes some changes that I made that relate to the issues reported here.  Please test and let us know how it goes.

Many thanks for your effort. Now it works.
Do you have an idea how to make work the embedded EPG?

By "embedded EPG" do you mean the EPG data carried in the transport stream of cable signals?

Yes, exactly that. It works if I use the interface of the Fritz!Box in Safari but admittedly not in VLC which which, however, can play the TV channels without delay and only a minimal pause when changing channels.

And this morning they don't play at all. The same as before: a double-click upon the channel, ten seconds break, a white screen appears and disappears after two seconds.
Appended is  log.

I have not implemented over-the-air EPG scanning for this type of devices yet.  Maybe in the future.

This time you had a different error.

Quote
1633932: 6171308032: General: JRFileSystem::MakeDirectoryTree: Failed! Path=/Volumes/WD ELEMENTS/JRiver/ONE HD 2022-04-28 8-2/
1633932: 6171308032: Reader: JRRTSPClient: Something is wrong.  Only 0 bytes of 1316 bytes written to file

I see a lot of lines like these in the log file.  It appears that there was an issue accessing the hard disk.  MC could not create a folder (Path=/Volumes/WD ELEMENTS/JRiver/ONE HD 2022-04-28 8-2/) for caching time-shifting data.  Did you run out of disk space?

Yes, you are right: it's an external HDD that was not connected to the MacBook. That now works.
But: after a double-click on a channel the full window opens for a second and then disappears. If I
choose one the window options in the contextual menu the window appears again.
The changing of channels still is pretty slow. But it works.
Thanks for your work and I am curious about the things to come in the future.
Perhaps one can hope for support for other sticks like eyeTV (the support from Geniatech is quasi non-existent)
and it doesn't work on my MacBook.

Slow channel changing will be looked at, but I am not sure how much I can do about it right now.

Support of other devices on Mac is hard, unless they stream on your network.
