Deletes files from playing now for no reason
« on: May 02, 2022, 03:47:30 am »

Hello,

I am playing files from Synology and Lumin network player.

When I add files to playing now, it often deletes all files in playing now except the current playing song.

It does it more often if the playing now contains more than 100 files.

Anybody else having the same issue? Is there a solution?

What option do you have selected for Tools -> Options -> General -> Behavior -> Double-click?

Also, in that same section, check Play button, as that can also wipe out Playing Now and replace it with the current list of files depending on how it's set.

Tools -> Options -> General -> Behavior -> Double-click is set as  Add to playing now (to end)

Play button is set as Play playing now

Today I only clicked the progress bar twice to move the song forward and it did the same thing again, only leaving the current song on playing now.

Seems to me it has nothing to do with player settings. I am using Lumin T2, Mode original, maybe compatibility problems.

Remove files from Playing now is bugged in more than one ways. It also removes the file if they are no longer found on the disk anymore (you have them on a network drive that is not connected anymore), even if you configure it to never remove the files from there.

Why would you want files that are unavailable to be left in Playing Now?

The setting you're talking about only applies to files being removed from the library, not from Playing Now.

I don't use the library at all, I only use the Explorer views to browse to files that I want to play, and benefit from the fact that they are automatically added to the playing now list when I start their playback.

Most of the media files are on network drives, but I don't have the network server on all the time. If I open MC while the network server is not running... all files on network drives are removed from the Playing now list.

To be honest, I'm not using MC for audio files playback. I'm using it for video files playback. JRVR and support for BluRay (and DVD) menus is the the only reason I bought MC last year.

And the only way to have a history of what video files I played without importing into libraries (which I was really into when I was younger, but now I just see it as a waste of time that I can use for something else) is to have them automatically added to the Playing now list when I start their playback. But like I said... open MC while the network server is off, and everything is lost.

Options > General > Behavior > Remove Files from Playing Now

Set to No.

It removes files when I click the progress bar to fast forward the song.

The network and NAS are available as the current song continues to play. I immediately send the deleted files back to playing now without any problems.

Lumin network player plays the files. Could it be Lumin not handling fast forward operation properly?

I missed the part about playing from Synology.  The server may be causing the problem.  DLNA or UPnP?  What is serving the files?

It is using DLNA.

Describe the setup a little more.  Are you loading the DLNA library into MC instead of importing files?

How do you control it.

In general, you need to simplify or substitute components in order to narrow down where the problem is.

If you use a NAS like Synology, you can just import the files in MC and avoid using DLNA altogether.

I am importing it. It says:

Musicserver is a DLNA library from a device on the network.
Loaded: No

I've used exactly the same setup with my previous network player (Cambridge Audio) without any problems.

Auto import is set to import from L: music server shared folder

I dropped some local music files from my PC and clicked the progress bar a few times and it cleared the list again, leaving only the current playing song.

So the problem isn't Synology.

I selected

DLNA Controller Options - Ignore transport events (Use polling mode)

and it doesn't seem to be doing it anymore. Checked it with both local & synology files.
