changed to a larger drive for the main source

using auto import, or single folder import, creates a bunch of graphics distortions, followed by freezing, i.e. windows error "this program is unresponsive" (i have left for hours, no change)

drag/drop folders into a view is working

there are a lot of files but that cannot matter, any ideas what's broken here or how to workaround (other than dragging in a chunk of folders at a time)

Is it a local drive?  Or NAS or USB?

What version of MC?

Turn off analysis, etc.

local drive (HDD SATA)
defender tamed prior to operation

i have tried with clearing out all importing rules and just adding a single small (1000 file) folder
single folder and auto-import utterly fail, just an unresponsive UI
