Hi! I am trying to post this here since I am going to reinstall windows and JRiver 29.  I really want Windows 11. But my disk keep spinning up. As from what I understand this is made worse in 11 than in 10. So if there is no fix for this I am going for the Windows 10. I have this pc in my livingrom so this drives me crazy(it is not that loud but one can hear it all the time.

I bet there are many that have 11 here on this forum. please share if you have a fix for this.

I have done the powersetting plan adjustments and set it to 1 minute for disk. this does not fix it and I can not find a guide or how to do for windows 11 only windows 10 (and in the comment section on these videos they say windows 11 is even worse fixing)

I don't know of any disk spinup problem with MC on Win10 or Win11.

Maybe you need to configure Windows Defender.  There's a thread on it on this board.  Don't use any other antivirus.

Do a Google search on the problem you have.

Personally I'd either set the sleep time for disks to like 20 or so minutes or just get a hard drive that's rated for 24/7 use (like a hard drive that's meant for a NAS) and disable sleep for disks. I have mine in Windows 11 set to 60 minutes, but I also use Seagate IronWolf drives that are rated for 24/7 use too.

If you set the disk time to sleep to one minute in Windows and you have Media Center running, especially with auto-import enabled, it'll keep waking the disks when auto-import runs.

Awesome Donkey ..Thanks a lot. I did not know about JRiver Media Center enabled that this would turn them on. I have set the disk at 1 minute in power settings, but it still spinning.

Jim, I have googled it and it is a problem or at least mine spinn up, a intense airsound low but anoying. I found a youtube video for win 10. I will try that. I do not use media center but I will do the defender config. I recon it is the exclude procedure.

There are no activity on the disks. they just make this isshh!! intense but low sound and it is annoying and it is coming from the disks. I have double checked this and opened up the cabinet.I can not remember this noise from the disk(s) on windows 10.
