MC does not see IdPi as a renderer in Playing Now
« on: September 25, 2022, 02:13:35 pm »

IDK what happened.  I had it working fine for a few months then it started acting up a bit and now it just doesn't show up at all.  Never changed any settings.  I've rebooted both PC and the ID Pi and nothing.

Please help me get reconnected this stuff is difficult for me :(

Wireless?  Or wired?

If it's wireless, the connection may not be reliable.

It is wired and now that you mention I do suppose that I should see this listed as a device on my router, but I'm not seeing it.
I guess this is the first thing for me to figure out.  Just don't understand why things can fall out of whack like this when I've done nothing to the settings or setup

Or I guess I am seeing the device because it's an ethernet hub and other devices hooked up to it are working fine.

What can I do to fix this?
I purchased the IdPi thinking it would end the issues I was having streaming to my chromecast audio.
I did that samba setting thing from this forum but that made no difference.

What is "an ethernet hub"?

Please describe your network.

MC30 has a diagnostic tool that might help.

Well an old man like myself would just call it an ethernet splitter :)  It allows me more connections - plugging one in and yields 4 ports.  Had worked fine for nearly a year and is currently working for other devices so that shouldn't be the issue.

I have all my music on a Synology NAS, MC25 running on my PC, IdPi with the Allo Digione gives coax to my receiver - all are connected via ethernet

Unfortunately my old MC version doesn't have that tool you mention :(

If you have a smart phone, one thing to try is to go into WiFi connection settings on your smart phone, where you would normally select a WiFi network to connect from the available networks. If the IdPi is being listed there as a WiFi network, it's in access point mode. This means it has no network connection. If it is in access point mode, you can try and connect it via WiFi following these instructions:

https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,132835.msg920466.html#msg920466

If that doesn't work, you might need to connect a monitor and keyboard to the IdPi to check a couple of things directly.

If you use option 11 from the Id Main Menu (Show network information), does it show an IP address?
