Download and Install
Please download the version that matches your license.  MC31 is on the Download Page. 

Older versions are in the Old Versions topic on our wiki.

Double click on the .dmg file to unpack the disk image and show the install window.

Drag Media Center to the Applications shortcut shown in the install window (see the enclosed image).

Close the installer window and eject the Media Center installer disk image (control-click or right click on the installer image and do eject).

Run Media Center from the Applications folder (from the finder menu, Go->Applications and double click on Media Center).

If you are asked for accessibility permissions you must accept that (it's how MC deals with retina displays).

If you are asked for screen recording permissions, you need to accept that for MC's user interface to operate properly, MC uses that permission to copy from part of its window to another part of its window. It's not used for anything else.

If you are asked for input monitoring permissions, you need to accept that IF you intend on using the Mac's media keys (play, stop, volume up and down).

If you are asked for permissions regarding access to the Documents folder you need to do that for making and restoring backups (unless you change the default backup location).

If you are asked for permissions regarding access to any other drives, folders or devices you need to do that if you have media on them that you want MC to access.

Once MC is running you can control-click or right click on the Media Center icon on the Dock, choose "Options" and select "Keep in Dock".

Converting Data from a previous version
You can back up your library from the File Menu in your older version and restore from the same menu in your new version.  MC will convert the data and settings and use them.  Your files won't be moved or altered. MC will restore data (for all versions) AND thumbnails (if you chose to save them when you backed up the library) from recent versions.

If you're upgrading, you can leave your older version installed until you're happy with the new one, and then uninstall the old version.

Licensing
The easiest way to enter your license without removing old versions of MC is to copy and paste it from your registration email into MC either at the startup splash screen if asked for it there or via Help->Registration Info when in the program. Using the .mjr with an old version installed may try to run the registration from the old version which is why we recommend the copy and paste method here.

Does anyone know how to rectify this error in Driver Media Center for Mac?

That means, for whatever reason, you don't have read access to a specific directory (which it isn't a MC issue, it's a issue with the directory you're trying to read from and/or macOS permissions or maybe a limited user account or something?).

I'm having the same issue JHamilton, and I remember having a similar issue once but it was when I updated iOS versions if I recall correctly.

My thumbnails are also not pulling when I restore a previous library in 30 (it's a library I just backed up in 29, and I did back up thumbnails).

Hoping these bugs get worked out, for now I'm still running 29.

Jhamilton, go into System Settings > Privacy and Security > Full Disk Access > and then toggle on Media Center 30.  Worked for me.

Looks like maybe my thumbnails are pulling in now.

Just setup a Mac Studio. I have used JRiver Media Center on my PC's since version 18. I loaded the Mac Media Center 30 it works great except I cannot make it my default player. It is not one of the suggested choices and when I force it as the default when I than click on a media file it opens to a blank screen.  I plays fine if the file is opened with in it but not from outside. I can live without Media Player not deing my default player, "Infuse" is great for the default but it would be nice to be able to open on my long time go to media application.

What type of media file is that?
Also you should see the file associations in right click file dialog "Open With".

Yes I know all about of the "open with" thing. Media Center is not on macOS Ventura's suggested list and you have to force the choice.  What I did was totally blew out v 30 and reloaded it. I paid careful attention to how it loaded. There didn't seem to be any difference in how it loaded this time but as a result of this fresh loading Media Center 30 is now my default player.

I have scoped out the problem. I don't think it is Media Center.  Ventura 13.2.1 does not have the type of global settings for audio/video associations I am used to in Windows. When I try to open a video file from it's file location if it associated with Media Center it will often open to a blank white screen with the sound playing. Close Media Center try it again and it opens normally.  Sometime it will open in Infuse or Quicktime even though Media Center is the default player.  Once I get the file listed in Media Center's library everything is OK from that point. basically I am forcing Ventura to do something it does not want to do.

Everything is now working as I want it. Not really sure what I did that fixed it.

It might have a corrupted settings file. If you have a library backup (Usually under Documents/JRiver) you can remove the settings files and try again.
From a terminal
rm ~/Library/Application\ Support/J\ River/Media\ Center\ 30/Settings/*.ini

The suggestion to go to system Preferences - Full disc access - add and check Media Center....This worked for me.  It was unnecessary on all previous generations of Media Center but it fixed this problem.
