I assume Media Centre 28 will not run on new Mac 24.s?
« on: December 07, 2022, 05:22:59 am »

Sorry for hijacking a Media Centre 30 thread..but just want a quick answer.

Just bought and set up a new Mac 24 with the Apple M1 chip etc. running Monterey 12.6.1

My version of Media Centre is 28 (updated as far as I could)

I have added the app to all the appropriate places in Security & Privacy Preferences

It crashes immediately. Does not load at all.

My instinct is that its too old for the new Mac.

If that is the case then my next question is...if I purchase the Media Centre 30 ...will that run ok? If it does not can I get my money back?

Thanks

Apple's OS changes sometimes require changes in our software.  Microsoft is far better at providing backward compatibility.

You can download and install MC30 to see.  If you aren't on the latest build of MC28, you could try updating to it first.  Old Versions on the wiki.

try to install MC27, MC29 and see if afterwards MC28 will work.
I've seen strange behaviour  on first use of MC30. It was crushing on start . So I decided to open MC28 (still in use) and following this MC30 would initialize.
I use M1 with Ventura, but before it was Monterey.

MC29 and MC30 run on both of my M1 Macs.  The one I'm typing this on runs Monterey 12.6.1.

I can't remember if I had MC28 on this system or not.

Best of luck to you.

And if you choose to upgrade from Monterey...

MC29 and MC30 run on my M1 Mac.  The one I'm typing this on runs Ventura 13.0.1.

Thank you all for replies and advice.

Im going to try an uninstall - then re install 28 from here.

If that doesnt work I will try mc30 ....hopefully they will allow me to pay the upgrade price!

Cheers again

So wait a minute...

Are we saying that MC30 will not run on a fresh Monterey system?  That MC28 needs to be installed and run once, to do something that lets MC30 then run correctly?
