jriver crash during video playback
tiggerkater:
hello to everyone!
i am using jriver for over 12 years now, regularly updating on a windows 10 machine. since last year suddenly the program crashed (randomly) during video playback. i am not able to reproduce the problem, sometimes it happens in the first minutes of a movie (playing from nas), sometimes at the end, sometimes not at all.
i first thought my old hardware (8 year old intel i5) was the problem, so i updated a few months ago (now using a i7 12700 with a msi mag z690 motherboard), but the problem still occurs.
i tried to add jriver folders to windows defender exceptions, but it did not help.
i tried to switch from "convolution" to "room correction", same problem.
can somebody please point me to the right direction, where i could perhaps solve the problem?
thanks for your help!
JimH:
Try playing from the local drive. Could be the NAS or antivirus and the NAS.
What is the full version of MC?
tiggerkater:
thanks jim!
i will try and come back with the mc30 version.
may i ask: why was the NAS no problem before?
will also try disabling antivirus and firewall. (but i think i already did, with no difference.)
kind regards
JimH:
Configure Windows Defender and don't use any other antivirus.
tiggerkater:
hi jim,
i am using jriver 30.0.59 and i configured windows defender with the jriver folders as exception.
yesterday, i tried playing a movie from the nnve harddrive, and there was no crash.
so the nas could be the culprit. (eventhough i am using gigabit ethernet now, compared to some years ago.) or is it simply the old (and slow) nas processor - and should i invest in a newer NAS?
any advice is much appreciated!
thanks, and kind regards
