options dialog box is too big
« on: March 22, 2023, 10:48:25 am »

I have a smaller 1080P TV in my small living room.  I have aging eyes.  I have to set the display in windows to 1080 and the magnification to 150% to have any chance or reading the words on the screen from where i sit.

When I open the settings in MC, the dialog box goes from the very top of the screen to below the bottom of the screen.  I cannot see the buttons at the bottom.  I have to grab the top of the box and pull it down to 'shorten' the box, then grab it and move it up to reveal the buttons on the bottom, so I can save my changes.  Every single time I open settings.

Can we maybe change this so that the box does not go off the screen?

There's a setting for that, probably in the Tree & View menu.

You can increase the font size in MC under the  Tree & View menu.  I use 12.  Then leave Windows settings at default.

There is a Size option in the View menu.

Thanks Jim.  I do use this machine for some things other than MC from time to time, so I do need the 150% setting for windows as a whole, so it's usable for me under all circumstances.  Just changing the font/size for MC won't solve this in my situation.

Hopefully it makes sense, and is possible to just have MC make sure any/all dialog boxes don't draw off screen, which would solve this for me.

thanks.

Try this:
Options > General > Maximize windows that go offscreen

This setting does not work for Get TV and Movie Information window.  Can this window be made to either maximize also, or to be truncated to fit without maximizing if that's easier?

Good find.  It wasn't remembering the position either.  I'll get both in the next build.
