Start of song cut off: Previous / Next button behavior
« on: April 09, 2023, 09:36:48 am »

Whenever I press the previous or next buttons, the new song starts playing as expected. However, the start of the song is sometimes cut off / skipped in some songs. So for example. When using these buttons on the Fugees' song "Killing me softly with his song" the songs starts out with "ming my pain..." instead of "strumming my pain..."

I tried: Options -> Audio Settings -> Track Change -> Switch Tracks -> Standard Gapped 1 s, but that doesn't seem to fix it. Is there a way to force a certain "wait time"?

Setup: Windows 11 computer -> HDMI cable -> Marantz AV7706. Exclusive access, WASAPI.

Try the playback option called Play Leading Silence.

Hi Jim, which version is required for this option? I'm running 27. Where can I find this option exactly?

"Do not play silence" should be unchecked.  Should be an option under switch tracks.  Maybe its not there in 27?

It's called "Play leading silence".  It's under Audio settings.

There is a search window in options.

Badger is correct.  It is not "Play leading silence", it is Do not play silence (leading or trailing).  That checkbox has been around since long before version 27.

Got it. It is unchecked, but I still have this problem. Could it be related to another issue with HDMI or the Marantz?

Have you tried fiddling with any of the options highlighted in the picture below?

There are two options

Do not play silence (leading or trailing) under the Track Change options

and

Play Silence at Startup for hardware syncronization  under the Settings options

The first one cuts out silence at the beginning and ending of a track. The second one adds a user specified amount of silence at the beginning of a track.

Got it. I'll give "Play a little silence on DoP stop" a try. The only option I haven't tried yet.
