Currently I have an extensive video collection stored on a NAS, and I record TV in TS format locally. As time progresses I expect to need to archive older files from the host PC to NAS to keep an acceptable level of local disk space. Previously I used a scheduled batch file to check disk space and if necessary use Robocopy to move the oldest files, and Windows Media Center updated its library automatically. Will this approach work with JRiver Media Center and its Sidecar Files, with its library detecting the changes or do I need a different way of moving the files? I notice the Sidecars have the file path in them so presumably this will cause problems once moved to the NAS?

I'd just use MC's internal function.  Select the files you want to move in MC --> Right Click --> Library Tools --> Rename, Move, & Copy Files :  Then Select:
- Rename (moves files if difectory changes)
- Directories : Check this option and put in your new path. 
- Uncheck "Move all non-imported files in folder with selected media files
- Unchcek "File Name" (unless you also want to change the file name)
- Uncheck "Find and Replace"

Check the Preview screen to see you are happy with the result.  Press OK

You can also save it as a Preset for next time.

Thanks, will investigate and see if I can create an automated way. I'm very keen to make this as hands off as possible as experience tells me the disk space will run out leading to failed recordings at the most inconvenient time possible if I don't
