Preview Version Expired -- Solution
« on: December 01, 2002, 03:58:37 am »

If you have an older version of Media Jukebox 9.0, it may now be showing a message that it has expired, even if you have a V9 license.  Downloading and installing a new version should fix that:

ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/MediaCenter9.exe

Another possibility is that your 30 day trial has expired.  In this case, a purchase is your only option.  Please see this link for details:

The Preview Version Expired message was very confusing since I paid for the full version. Then I wasted a restore thinking somehow the registration got fouled (You have used one of your restores. - email message). Can I get credit back for this?

>> Once in a while we do something we wish we hadn't.
well maybe a better message

Like it has expired, explain why, and tell them do download the new version.

Now that I have followed your link and downloaded the new version.  Will it recognize that I am a paying customer, or will it again expire in thirty days.  When it did this I lost all my playlists.  I don't want to start that project again 'til I know I am not going to be booted off in thirty days.

Just install it.  If you purchased earlier, you will still be OK.  You'll have the full version.

Like some of your other customers, I am not happy about the way this is handled.

Just a little dialog that tells me that the version which I downloaded only a week ago has expired, with no way out. Installing the previous version is not possible. Only a reference to the mediajukebox homepage, which also is not very helpful in this case.

Like others I wasted not one, but two restores, before I found out what I need to do: again download 10 Mb of software through a slow phone line (not all of us have broadband).

I hope that in future you will give a more clear message and allow the possibility to postpone the upgrade at least some days and in the mean time keep using the program.

I trust the two wasted restores will be credited.

I also used one of my restore's before I figured out what to do.  The good news is that when I loaded the new Version it kept everything intact.  A great product occasionally has "brain cramps" like the rest of us I suppose.

This is a great program and it's the second license I have bought. I hope this isn't going the way of Real One, expiring at whim and demanding another large download.
I guess I'll cross the lost restore bridge if I need to. Let us know about these things beforehand by email and give us good information, not some lame dialog box leaving us wonder what has happened. How about adding a buck or two to the purchase for a cd-rom?

I am still having a problem. I bought v. 8 a while a go, and have an rrg registration file. I just installed version .85, and it is asking me to upgrade. I read through the FAQ and went to the license restoration process - since I don't have the code, I am asking for the system to mail it to me, but now it cannot find my email address. Any ideas?  ?

That sounds like an old license.  What is the name of it?

if you bought MJ8 when it first came out RRG files were issued, a notice was put out to owners that they should send a E-mail message to J river to have it converted to the new License system.

But that was some time ago.

Same here. I have valid 8.0 license and upgraded to the 9.0 beta on your invitation. I really don't care about the new video related feature. Do I need to rollback to version 8.0?

I forgot to detail two things: I did download the version you suggested in this thread. I'm still getting the Preview Version Expired message. It is also exactly 20 days since I installed the preview version over a licensed 8.0 version.

Hi JimH

I dont know whats going on but,

Built new sys. on the Dec. 25th.

Installed 9.0.88, used a Restore and backed it up.
No prob., everything worked great and it was registered.

Yesterday, I knew there was a prob. with ripping, but tried it anyways and ck. out Yadb. Somewhere in all this I received an error and that my license was being restored or something to that effect. I usually ignore errors since this is beta, but the license caught my eye.
This error came up in a box and then disappeared.

Everything looked good , so I forgot about it.

Tonight, I brought up MC and it said this ver. has expired. It still came up.
Looked at Help and it was not registered.
Went to the 9 forum and 9.0.89 was pulled.

So I used the bkp. and restore the license.

Any idea whats going on.

Glad my backup is good for two weeks.

Thanks
Griff

I purchased 8.0, updated, and it expired.  I installed 9.0 from the link you sent me, and it expired.  I just reinstalled 9.0, did I do the right thing?

How do I get cover art with 9.0?

How do I get the track list and cover art into easy cd creator, or create labels with my cover art in media jukebox?

Thanks,
Kris

You did the right thing.

Cover art is under properties.  Right click on a file or files to get there.

MC has a CD labelling program.  Check under Tools.

Install keys are only good for 14 days.  After that, you will need to use a restore.  Check this link to find out how:

Build 102 (just released) fixes a problem in restoring a license.  This problem probably existed in the last three or four builds released, perhaps back to 95 or 98.

I believe I originally downloaded and paid for Media Jukebox 8, and I had it upgraded to Media Center 9.  I had hard drive trouble and had to format it.  When I tried to redownload Media Center, it downloaded OK, but it will not install.  It just says preparing install wizard, and after that the cursor goes across and nothing else happens.  I've tried all of your downloads with the same results.  I never had anything like this happen.  Since the format, I've redownload several other programs with no problems.  Help!

I just tried it with the same results. I did pay and register before the time ran out.  I've been registered quite some time now.  I had to format my drive and have been trying to get it back on.  I know I had a registered version of Media Center.  If you send me an email, change the address to jstonejr2001@charter.net.

I did forget to tell you that I still have Media Center 9 on another computer.  It has the registration number in help.  If I could just download and install another trial version, I can add the number in.(I think), but I can't even install a trial version.

I've tried everything you've given me.  Nothing has helped.  At this time I would gladly pay to get media center again.  However, the only way you can buy it is through the trial version which I don't have

Even if I did I don't know if it would install.  I can download anything, but I can not install anything.

Install problems are usually OS problems.  Your temp folder may be full.  Empty the trash.  Also clear IE temp files by doing this:

IE/Tools/Internet Options/Temporary Internet Files/Delete Files.  It can take several minutes.

Somebody please help!!! I just purchased the license for MJ 9.0 and when I tried to install the registration number it tells me "no such registration on file". Then when I attempt to do a restore, everything seems OK, except that I still cannot open the application with the message showing "the 30 day trial has expired". On top of all this mess, now I have an e-mail message that states that I have used a restore, when in fact all I was trying to do was to get it to work in the first place......

Please HELP!!!!!

Don't worry about restores.  They will be cleared when we release MC9.

Details on use are here:

www.mediajukebox.com/license

If it didn't recognize your restore key, try copy and paste.  It's probably a typo.

Use IE to visit the web page.  Other browsers may not work.

Clicking on the Install Key (.mjr) in Windows Explorer should register the program (if all else fails), but the Install Key must be less than 14 days old.
