JRiver Media Center 30 v96 has stopped functioning

<< < (4/7) > >>

tbng:
I have power cycled the computer containing JRiver dozens of times and did so again at your request today, even rebooting the computer.  Nothing changed.  Direct setting will play multi-channel .flac and .wav files but only in two-channel at a much lower volume level than Waspi and with a sound quality that suggests something is amiss. Waspi will play multi-channel files at the proper volume in .dsf format and sounds good but will not play either .flac or .wav multi-channel files as depicted in one of the photographs I attached in the previous message.  Waspi does play two-channel high-res .wav.  A few weeks ago, all these file formats were playing properly.

Did you see any issues with my Media Center settings in the photographs I attached in the previous message?  Can I provide other examples?

JimH:
Power cycle the output device.

Please make a list of what does work and another of what doesn't.

tbng:
I have power cycled my entire system to no avail.

Working via WASPI

1. Two-channel .wav and .flac
2. Multi-channel .dsf
3. Volume level is as expected

Not working via WASPI
1. Any .flac or .wav multi-channel file.  The error message in the photograph I provided appears, claiming that Media Center cannot recognize the format.

Working via DIRECT
1. Any .flac, .wav, or .dsf file plays but outputs only two channels
2. Volume is approximately 15 db lower than WASPI
3. The sound is not outstanding

JRiver recognizes an Altitude WASPI connection that would seem the logical choice, but all WASPI selections behave in the same manner.

JimH:
WASAPI not WASPI.

Matt:
Pick the speaker configuration of your system in DSP Studio > Output Format.  This way all the mixing of multi-channel and two channel material will use the same output format.  This is the recommended approach.  I really appreciate JRSS, but you can choose no mixing if you prefer.
