MC32 is now available

Please see below for upgrade prices from previous versions.

You can now use a Registration Code from any previous version of JRiver Media Center, even Media Jukebox 8.0, to upgrade at a discount. You can retrieve your Registration Code from our server (see below).

INSTRUCTIONS
Are you planning to use more than one OS?
If so, you will need a Master License, which works with Windows, Mac, and Linux. You can purchase from the Help menu of a current version or you can go here:

Master License Upgrade (direct link) $37.98.

Or do you only need Windows or only Mac or only Linux?
Then you can get the new license here:

Windows Upgrade (direct link) $27.98.

Mac Upgrade (direct link) $27.98.

Linux Upgrade (direct link) $27.98.

PROBLEMS?
This MC32 license will also work with MC31.0.83 or above.

Is your old license not accepted when you upgrade?
Make sure you're on the right upgrade page.
Use copy and paste with the license. 0 (zero) and O (letter) look alike. So do 1 (number one) and l or I (letters).

Don't have your license? Visit the Restore Page and use option #2 to email yourself your license(s).

Restoring a license

Restoring a backup of your library. MC makes them automatically. You can find them by using your OS file browser to search for zip files. MC32 can restore a backup from MC20 and above. MC can also restore your settings if you choose.

Tried to purchase with PayPal but the process said that it failed, however, according to PayPal the purchase went thru. What gives?

update: I did receive the license from JRiver so all is good.

I had the same failed message, got me worried at first. But I got the JRiver license key in an email a few minutes later. So all good now.

I also experienced this weird message from paypal after paying for upgrade.

But then got email from paypal with transaction confirmation and few moments later email from JRiver with new licence.

So... everything is fine.

I just upgraded Windows licence to Master. Will do more experiments with Linux version soon.

I have Media Center 31 Master, but I would like to check something.
Since I have a Master license, I can upgrade to MC32 for free, right? Furthermore, there is no need to restore the license, and the new version can be installed using the Registration Code of MC31 Master, right?
I'll ask you one more thing. Will I have to download and manually install MC32 when the time comes? Or will it automatically switch to MC32 with a normal update?

If you just bought MC31, you have an MC32 license. Retrieve your license from the Restore Page.

When MC32 is available, we will send you instructions. Just download and install then.

I had a misunderstanding.
I purchased the MC31 Master License on April 27, 2023, so I have to repurchase the upgrade to MC32.
Also, since it was purchased 7 months ago, I feel like it should be a little cheaper. .

I would be happy to upgrade but I have three issues:

A) When I select several files in the explorer to play them, frequently, the playing order is random and not the right sequence (in classical you have random order of the movements of a piece and is not funny)

C) I can not add files to the playing list (you know VLC? is does it perfectly) (I know if I select the files from JRiver directly is different and works, but I mostly work with the explorer).

D) I bought a master license because I wanted to install in three PC one of them Linux (Kubuntu release) I need a way to install the SW in this release without being a SW Engineer. I am Just an user and I don't understand a thing of what you want me to do. Is in the new release just as easy as in Windows?

For the Kubuntu install, use the installJRMC script that can be found in the MC31 for Linux section. Look at that thread for instructions.

With respect: You are doing it wrong. Using Explorer is not how MC was designed to be used. Explorer integration is an afterthought. It's there so that people can use just the very basics. It will always have different behavior than the main MC interface. If you don't want to use the MC interface, you probably should use another player. I accept that you might not want the power of the MC interface and you "just want to use Explorer". In that case, there's little reason to use MC. 90% of the power of MC is the interface.

They get handled in the order they come from Explorer today.

I'll add this to MC32:
NEW: Added an advanced option to sort incoming playback files because the order coming from shell extensions could be shuffled.

That way it will use the tags in MC to sort any incoming files.

FYI, after a PayPal issue and delayed MC 32 License email (straightened out with Deanna's help), I went to plug in the new registration code into MC 31, I received the following error dialog box:

"You are using Media Center 31 Windows to install a license for a different version. Please download and install the version that matches your license, and then try again."

This has worked the dozen or so times I've done it in the past when upgrading early and waiting for the new MC version.

Yes. MC32 will find the license when you install it and copy your setup from MC31.

Some people just want to benefit from the video playback capabilities of MC, with its unique JRVR video renderer, and the ability to play BluRay discs with menus. There is no alternative player that has both these features.

Please read the first post in this thread.

You need to download and install MC31. Then restore your license. Details are in that post.

I just purchase, today 8 december 2023, a MC32 licence.
My actual version is MC29.
When I click on the '****.mjr' sent to me when purchasing, I got the the following error but my actual version is MC29 not MC30.
Is it correct I bought the wrong upgrade, ie not available for MC29 ?

All licenses are now MC32. They also work with MC31.0.83 or higher. So just purchase MC31.

That is strange. I never received the email. the arr* email is the one I've used to purchase upgrades in the past.
The last successful email I received at that address from JRiver was on December 1st. I downloaded MC31 to a new computer, providing my v31 license. it included an MC31 mjr file.
The arrl email is an alias, which points to my provider email. I am currently receiving emails to that address, so there is no problem with it.
Checked spam for MC emails, and they are not being diverted.
When I upgraded to v32, I provided my address, email address, and cell phone, so I must be on file. I was redirected to paypal for payment, which was completed. I was then redirected back to JRiver, but that's were it ended. no emails....
Is it possible that there was an issue in processing my order on the JRiver side, even though I was routed to Paypal for payment?
That's the only thing I can think of...

I currently use Media Center 28 and would like to upgrade to 32 in January, talk to me like I am a third grader, I am not a computer guru, what do I need to do to update, will I have to put my movies, tv shows and music back into the new program or does it just move over? Thank You

1) Follow the links in the first post to purchase the upgrade you want (windows, mac. etc)

2) In your current MC 28 go to File->Library->Backup Library --OR-- press Ctrl+Shift+B

3) Install the new version you just bought then File->Library->Restore Library

I am going off memory and I think some options might pop up as you do this but can't remember the specifics. If you buy it now you will get a key that will let you use MC31 and 32. To reduce the number of times you need to do this you should wait until MC32 is actually out before doing the upgrade. Or you can practice by upgrading to 31 first.

The good news is that your copy of MC28 should keep on working even after you upgrade in case you have problems.

A license for MC31 will not work for MC32. See the first post if you want to upgrade.
