USB Mp3 Player Not Found
« on: February 08, 2003, 04:08:27 am »

Well this was working once But

Yesterday i when and bought a 128Meg flash memory card.

I am not sure if this problem is My Windows XP or the MP3 player about 6 months ago it worked when i Pluged in MY Mp3 player to USB it showed up as a Drive.

Now it is not showing up

Is there anything I can do or check in Windows XP to see if i can fix this.

I have tried it with and without the memory card.

I have tried all 6 USB ports

all USB ports seem to find and work with my webcam, Mouse and scanner.

Go to System in control panel and delete all 6 usb ports. And REBOOT. Let the beast recognize and reconfigure their Usb souls, I mean ports. ;D

Ok just did that all the ports reloaded and everything is working but the MP3 player.

Is the mp3 player

By the way, the mp3 player does play the music that is in it now, and when i hook the cable up and pull out the batt it does continue to work so it is at least getting power form the usb cable.

Did you install the software that came with the player?

I never did before, and it worked in Windows XP, and the software was for older versions of windows.

I went to DIVA Players website and they have nothing to download for the player.

well i just used the MP3 player on an older computer running windows 2000.

just wondering now if the new computer USB would be compatable with the MP3 player.

I did try all 6 ports just in case.

deleted all ports in system under control pannel and restarted that did not work.

anything else? (besides get a new, new computer)

King,

You could try checking the Driver Details on the 2000 where everything works and then look for that file on your system that fails and see if it is there and if it is the same version.

Check the website for the player?

Pull the card out?  I assume it has internal and external memory.  We've seen cases where one could be read but the other couldn't.

Something strange like networking using USB?

Did it go throught the wash?  I put a memory stick through the wash and it worked, but there's no guarantee the same will work for you.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314634

Latest Windows XP Service Pac 1a release (3 Feb 2003)
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;322389

it's still not working but found i do not Have A Key USB and not sure what or how to enter it the directions are not that clear to me since they say "click Add Value" under edit and i can't find that.

Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
Locate and then click the following key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_Machine\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Usb

On the Edit menu, click Add Value, and then add the following registry value:
Value name: DisableSelectiveSuspend
Data type: REG_DWORD
Radix: Decimal
Value data: 1

King,

For what it is worth, I do not have that key either, but am able to connect to many USB portable players.

How did the search and replace of the driver file turn out?

Admin in atlanta, ga locked me out (security) and what i did see was dated 1999. I think i will take what i could find "USB*.*" and put it on a disk and try it.

I did get this message from Diva support, i guess it is supported by Daisy Technology, LLC

Hello Mark,

Please, check this:

In [Device manager] ->USB controllers ->USB root hub
->power management unselect the option that allows windows
automatically to turn off the device. If you have more than
one root hub you have to unselect the above mentioned option
for that hub on which you will connect the device (PhotoClip)

Regards,
Nick

It did not help.

i did send them back a e-mail and i asked for anything else.

if i don't get anything i think my next move will be to format, re-install windows XP

then try it out again just for the fun of it.

if all else fails then i will buy a rio or somthing, the one i looked at today took 256 meg mem cards. not sure if that will help but i guess the next step after that is a 16lb hammer

Latest Info From Support, Sounds Confusing to me

Quote
Hello Mark,

If your USB port is 2.0, you have to have last firmware.
Depending of your model:
For DivaMP3xxxVP is 2.14Cy, and for DivaMP3xxxW is 2.21Wz.
(xxx is size of internal memory; y is A, B, I or J; z is E, F or M;
y and z have to be the same letter like current one)
Please, do the update on computer with USB 1.1 port.
More info about updates and files:
http://www.daisymm.com in [Support] section, Downloads,
Diva MP3 player firmware versions. OR directly
http://www.daisymm.com/versions/en_version/support/upgrades.html#diva

Best regards,
Nick
