Importing MKA files is incomplete
« on: April 02, 2024, 07:36:49 pm »

I am trying to import Bluray Audio albums. I used MkvToolnix to create and MKA file and then updated the file with tags to identify the artist and include the album cover. When I tried to import the album as a single file, one file was detected and apparently imported. However the file does not appear under Audio/Recent. In Theater View the album does appear under the name of the artist but it is categorized as Unassigned. I checked the tags and there is definitely an album title present there.

Shouldn't the newly imported album still appear in Recent, even if it is considered unassigned?

I started playing around with the tags, trying to make the MKA file look like my FLAC files.
The album cover does not show up even though it is definitely embedded in the metadata using MP3Tag.

I noticed a few fields are not changeable in the MC tags. See the attached screenshot.
The field Album Type says incomplete, and it is grayed out.

Is the field Media Type set to Audio?  MC's audio view Recent Albums sorts on the field Date Imported.  Have you confirmed the Sort By criteria in the view's tab menu and checked the value of field Date Imported?

The Media Type is Audio but I just changed the subType from blank to Music. This had no effect on the state of the Album Type field or the missing album cover. The album does show up in the Recent tab, just missing the album cover.

The album does show up in the Recent tab, just missing the album cover.
This recent thread describes how MC reports cover art it has detected for audio files:
https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,138600.msg961207.html#msg961207

- Check Options > File Location > Cover Art.  Confirm the path for your cover art, and check the box "Also store image in file's tag" (my preference).
- RMB album > Library Tools > Update Tags (from library).
- Then check the field Image File and the tag dump for image info as described in above link.

If the image info is missing from tag dump, try downloading the image file (or take a screen shot of it).  Save the image to the cover art path, or add to your audio file, either from MC or from program Mp3tag.  Then re-check the tag dump.

Note:  I've never worked with MKA files - so I'm just making suggestions based on my experience with flacs.

Try saving an image file with the same name in the directory where the MKA files are.  MC will use it.  Not all file types support embedded images.

I added a JPG image but it is still not showing up. I tried rescanning the library to induce an update.

The first part of the name must match the track name.

Also try putting images in a folder below named cover art.

I tried the filename and the name of the album embedded in the tags. Neither one makes any difference. I did find another Atmos album with the same problem. What does the title "Unassigned" signify?

I used the name of the file (not the album name in the tags) and moved the JPG file to Cover Art.
Tools > Options > File Location > Cover Art

After I did a Library update from tags, the cover appeared.
