Problem Listening on Bluetooth Headphones
« on: May 16, 2024, 05:56:57 am »

I use JRiver primarily to listen to online Radio.   Often many hours a day.   Late in the day I have to listen via headphones and for quite some time this is broken on my machine.  If I attempt to listen to the same radio station that I was playing on speakers I get what I would call "infinite reverb" where the sound repeating in a loop and its unlistenable.  I have to switch to the web player to listen.  Same behavior on all stations.  Running 31.0.07 on Windows 11 with all windooz updates applied (i.e. up to date).  As I said the same thing happens with previous (29 etc) as well.

Any workaround?   Known bug?

Its not clear how you get the information from the log and how you actually do the setting.  I tried a little but no luck.  I attempted to share my log but the forum says I don't have write permission and blocked my submission.

Use MC's DSP Studio > Output Settings to output 48Khz.

Well first of all it's not that simple.  The setting is a table and in order to override the final output rate you have to select an output rate and then set that row.  Since I had no clue I just set the first five to 48mhz.  Near as I can tell from the log I succeeded into forcing things to 48 but that had no effect on the problem

Code: [Select]
0012951: 33720: Playback: CAutoConfigureAudioOutput::GetOutputFormat: Start
0012951: 33720: Playback: CAutoConfigureAudioOutput::GetOutputFormat: Using input format
0012951: 33720: Playback: CAutoConfigureAudioOutput::GetOutputFormat: Applying output format settings
0012951: 33720: Playback: CAutoConfigureAudioOutput::GetOutputFormat: 48 kHz 24bit 2ch
0012951: 33720: Playback: CAutoConfigureAudioOutput::GetOutputFormat: Finish (0 ms)
0012951: 33720: Playback: CWaveOutBin::CreateBin: Start
0012951: 33720: Playback: CWaveOutBin::DestroyBin: Start
0012951: 33720: Playback: CWaveOutBin::DestroyBin: Finish (0 ms)
0012951: 33720: Playback: CAutoConfigureAudioOutput::GetOutputFormat: Start
0012951: 33720: Playback: CAutoConfigureAudioOutput::GetOutputFormat: Using input format
0012951: 33720: Playback: CAutoConfigureAudioOutput::GetOutputFormat: Applying output format settings
0012951: 33720: Playback: CAutoConfigureAudioOutput::GetOutputFormat: 48 kHz 24bit 2ch
0012951: 33720: Playback: CAutoConfigureAudioOutput::GetOutputFormat: Finish (0 ms)

Do you have another Bluetooth device you can test?  I'm pretty sure this isn't a problem with JRiver.

You're outputting 24/48.  Try 16/48 and 16/44.1.
