Can't get JRiver back
« on: July 03, 2024, 02:24:45 pm »

Hello all,

Please help.  I changed the name of my computer and it's asking me to restore the license.  I tried that, it says license not valid.  Do you want to purchase a license.

Already purchased JRiver 31 a while back.  I'm just trying to get my music back after changing the name of my computer, which I probably shouldn't have done since I didn't know it was going to have this kind of impact.  Can anybody help?
Thanks,
Earl

If your license is for MC31, you need to download and install MC31, then restore.

Thanks.  you may not know the answer to this one but, When I hit the Server option my AVR, my JRiver music server is no longer the first option, It's now the last option down.  Do you know how I would change the display order of the server?

Looks like it's in alphabetic order, no? I assume the old name of the PC started with a letter above D before you changed it? If so, that's why. There's nothing MC can do about that one unfortunately and you likely can't change the order on the AVR menu itself.

Generally speaking though in regards to MC and renaming the PC name, if you rename a PC's name with MC running on it, it will cause it to lose registration and you'd have to re-apply your license to get it going again like you did. Other things like the Wi-Fi MAC address randomization feature (that is, as far as I know, disabled by default on Windows) will also cause registration to be lost. Another thing can be if the system time or even system date is wrong and set to a wrong time zone or the date is sometime in the future. Things to keep in mind, of course.
