Sirs:
I'm attempting to set up MC 32 on my Windows 10 computer ("music server") to play files through my stereo system via my local network. I've been (and continue) using Roon in this system successfully for many years. Roon Server resides on this same music server and auto-detects my SOtM sMS-200 Ultra Neo USB renderer ("SOtM Device"), which I've designated as my "Main System". I wish to do the same thing with MC 32 but it doesn't list the SOtM device in Tools/Options/Audio Device. I figure I'm probably missing something very simple, but would appreciate your help. As you can probably tell from this post, I'm an audiophile, not a technical wiz with computers...

How do I get MC 32 to list my SOtM Device at Tools/Options/Audio Device just as it does when using Roon Server?

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Roon uses its own protocol.  JRiver uses the industry standard DLNA.  Your device needs to support DLNA.

Please see the wiki topic on DLNA.

Thank you for your reply, Jim.
Even after I performed the Setup Instructions at https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/DLNA#Hardware_Known_to_Work_with_MC
the SOtM Device is not displayed in any manner under "Playing Now" in MC 32. I'm sure I'm missing something, but what?

  • August and everything after...

You might need to contact SOtM and ask them if their devices are compatible with JRiver (and DLNA) and if they have setup instructions for it.

Apparently there are a variety of MC users relying on the SOtM Device for their renderer as I ran across posts in this Forum from them. Not to sound dismissive, I've just emailed my query to the US distributor for SOtM but I'd like to stay focused on MC setup and related settings at this point as I'm probably missing something simple; there are so many layers of stuff within MC (and the SOtM Device is basically a plug and play DLNA device). Do you all have any further suggestions?

It apparently supports DLNA.  https://www.sotm-audio.com/sotmwp/english/portfolio-item/sms-200/

You may need to put it in a mode to do that.

Thank you, Jim. I'll check the documentation for the SOtM Device and also see if the distributor has any suggestions. I'll post outcome.
