Expired version
« on: February 01, 2003, 12:55:48 pm »

I paid $24.98 for Version 8 on 12/20/02.  I then thought I upgraded to Version 9.  Either way, this is not right.  How do I get access to either version again?  I've been reading other people's posts trying to figure out what's going on and I am all confused.

I guess I didn't finish my thought: I don't have access to this program now.  How do I get access?  And another thing, what is this about "number of restores" left?  What does that mean?  It says that I have 9 restores left, but I still cannot access Media Center.

Downloading the latest here should fix it:

Jim H,

Is this a joke?  What did I get for my $24.98 purchase in December?  A 30-month trial?  I'm trying to remain cool here, but I'd like some real serious answers.

Thanks,

Jared,
It is not a joke.  What version are you using?

i thought i was using a beta version 9.0.  however, i cannot even access it at this point.  i get a window that says my 30-day trial version has expired when i try to open it up.  i went to get my installation key, and i now get the error message "error installing media center license.  you are restoring a verion 8 license which needs to be upgraded".  now what?

kingsparta,

yes, i did download version 90105 and you know what happens?  as soon as it goes to run it, a window pops up telling me that my trial version has expired.  it offers me to go to restore the license- which i have already done so, and when i do that it says i have a version of 8.0 which is no longer valid.  again, what gives?  as i mentioned before, did i spend $25 for a program that works for just 1 month?

It sounds like you have a version 8 license (purchased on Dec. 20th, 2002). This license will not work with MC9. That's why you get the "Error installing Media Center license. You are restoring a verion 8 license which needs to be upgraded" message.

Uninstall MC9, reboot, and reinstall the latest Media Jukebox (version 8.0.394). This should fix your problem.

I don't work for J River however

MC9 Is not a free Upgrade for You, due to the date you bought  it.

I guess MC is not allowing you to get past a point For you to Buy MC9 At a discounted price.

Maybe J River should have put that option in there for users who use MC9 past the expire date that have a MJ8 License.

================================

what "Wile E. One" said should get you working with MJ8.

kingsparta, wile e one, and jim h,

thank you for your help.  sorry if i sounded like a ** earlier, but i've had poor experiences with online support in the past from other companies (namely musicmatch).  i un-installed media center 9.0 and re-installed juke box 8.0 like you said.  it's up and running now.  this won't happen to me again, will it?  at any rate, if it does i'm glad you're all here to help.  thanks again,
