"This tool is not available when connected to a server"
« on: November 08, 2024, 08:06:26 pm »

Yeah, I just saw that pop-up message as I have been listening (for hours) to playlists.

Scenario...  Listening to audio tunes on a MC client in theater mode connected to a MC server. (both current, stable versions)

I have never seen that pop-up previously, and I am left wondering, what is it trying to tell me?

Everything seems to be working in my listening experience.  As per usual.

Except for that apparent random pop-up.

What triggered it?

I was just sitting here.  There was no remort control activity on my part.

The playlist was just, well, playing.

Then that pop-up appeared out of no where.

What did I do wrong?

Maybe some of the files aren't writeable and tags can't be updated.

The file permissions have not changed.  They are as they always have been.

The MC client is accessing the MC database and the media files via the MC server.

The MC server has full rights to the MC media directory.

Fortunately, this error message was just a one-time transitory occurrence.

I've not seen it since.

Background ..

A few months ago, it was suggested to me to twiddle an option to allow the MC client to directly access the media files, instead of using the MC server to pass those media files to the client. (aside: I want, at this point, to cite that particular option, but I cannot find it.)

I tried that.

And, for the most part it worked, but I ran into issues.

So I reverted to the using of the MC server to provide the files.

So, basically, the MC server, which has never seemed to have an issue accessing the media files now has an issue?
