MC 33 and earlier breaks Windows Phone Link
« on: December 16, 2024, 10:22:55 pm »

Tested and confirmed on MC 33 and 31. Tested but not confirmed with MC 30.

Windows 10/11 has an app called "Phone Link" that allows interfacing with a mobile phone from a Windows desktop client. The Message function of the desktop app allows sending and viewing text messages.

The ability to attach a photo (jpg, png, tiff, etc) **located on desktop computer** to a new text message is broken when MC is enabled to handle that file type. In other words, that photo file type cannot be attached to the message, but only if located on the desktop computer. If the option to handle the file type in MC is disabled, Phone Link operates normally.

Other Windows applications that are enabled as handlers for the file type do not affect the operation of Phone Link.

Disable MC's support for images under Options > Filetype.
