Core Audio question
« on: November 28, 2024, 09:09:58 pm »

Hello all,

I am a long time user so first wanted to say thanks for the years of a great rock solid product. I am happy to support it.

I set things up some year ago with MC and never had the need to change things much until recently I was gifted an old B&W A7 speaker for my home office and its been marvellous. I have created its own zone and set the default core audio to my speaker core audio. I have noticed however that when my speaker shuts down or sleeps, that "BW (core audio)" disappears and it reverts back to"default (core audio)".

Is this the expected behaviour ? is there a way to make it not disappear within the BW zone settings so I constantly have to flip it off of default ?

In addition, i can set exclusive access mode using audirvana without problem, but I have tried several times using interger mode and exclusive access enabled and it makes MC crash my airplay mode so that my B&W speaker has to be chosen from the MACOS (15.1.1 (24B91)) again and reenabled in MC.

Thanks for any assistance and I hope I was clear in what I am meaning :)

Sincerely
Darren Crane

If you're using MC32, try MC33.

It appears to be an Airplay speaker.  https://www.crutchfield.com/S-5sc5Zfr1A5d/p_749A7B/Bowers-Wilkins-A7.html

If it's AirPlay, maybe you have to use AirFoil with it? At least that's what I've seen said about using AirPlay devices with MC in the past.

The reverting to Default on core audio when a device disappears has been in MC forever. I've found it somewhat annoying. The next beta build (54 or above) will modify that behavior. If the zone is set for a remote device and it goes away MC will switch to the core audio default on that zone (but not save that default), UNTIL the device comes back then it SHOULD be able to play on that device (after restarting playback).

It's fixed the issue for me with devices that can be unplugged like USB DAC's. I haven't tried it with core audio airplay devices.
