I'm attempting to use JRemote for the first time. I have Media Center 33 running on a Windows 10 desktop, and would like to use ios JRemote to control it. I do not need and do not want access via the internet, so I attempted to set up JRemote using the IP address of the desktop. iPhone and desktop are on the same local network. This failed. I then set up JRemote via the internet using the Access Key, and this worked fine after setting up port forwarding on my router. However I would really like to use limit access to local network only and have been unsuccessful. I tried writing a firewall rule to allow connections on port 52199 but this didn't help. I would appreciate any advice.

Why not just keep using the access key method? It's the main, recommended method to use JRemote or any of the other remotes with. Ultimately it works the same way as using the local IP address and will keep working if you use DHCP on your router (and you don't manually set an IP address or use address reservation on the router for the device running Media Center) and will adapt to local IP address changes.

Why not just keep using the access key method?

Having been burned in the past by a hijacked remote connection, I try to minimize remote connections I don't need. I don't really know if the JRemote remote connection presents a security risk or not, but on general principle, if I can use it without the remote connection (which I should be able to) I would prefer to do it that way.

Using the access key method isn't a remote connection or remote access or anything like that at all, if anything it only functions like a DDNS if you know what that is. There's no remote access of anything any anyone trying to connect from outside your network will likely encounter an error due to library access outside of the local network doesn't work unless you specifically go through the steps to enable that. The steps to enable library access outside of your network are that you'd have to do port forwarding for port 52199 (and 52200 for SSL), assuming your ISP doesn't block port forwarding. If said ports are closed (which they are on the router unless you specifically forward them to open them) anyone who got your access key would just receive an error upon attempted connection. Just don't post your access key publicly (or if you do you can reset it and change it) and you should be fine.

the problem no coming about ios, i explain
I use JRiver 33 on macbook and windows 10
I have 2 iphones Xr and 11, both use the last ios version but one use 3.42 jremote and other 3.43 jremote
with 3.42 jremote : working
with 3.43 jremote : No working (it said could not connect (the internet connection appears to be offline
I tried with acces key and ip adress, the result is the same
do you have a solution  ?
How comeback with 3.42 or 3.41 jremote version ?
