Thanks for the suggestions, EnglishTiger. My problem turned out to be just a bad file.
I have fixed the problem and this version of MC 33 is running well now, without crashing.
I traced the problem to a DSD Multichannel download I'd recently purchased which had not been properly downloaded, so the file was either incomplete or corrupted. I was unaware that I'd bought DSD download, instead of Flac, as I always had before from this vendor (Native DSD). However, this particular recording was not available as Flac, but I hadn't noticed that. This accident contributed to my confusion. After I deleted this file from the server and ran disk first aid on my server's hard drive I could run MC 33 without crashing. I then re-downloaded the DSD file, being careful that the large download completed successfully, then imported it again. After that, I found the recording on my server and played it in 5.1 surround sound without any more problems!
Everything seems good now. MC 33.0.62 is now running well on my Intel Mac with Sequoia 14.3.
