Surround Problem
« on: February 21, 2025, 11:20:12 am »

I bought v. 33, but switched to an older (23), the key is not valid (according to your docs), I cannot buy a v.23 key anymore

From version 24 on (at least at 25) up to current the right surround channel is not working anymore.

Also the player stops after 5 minutes playing, now wave, but the button is in 'Play' , stopping and starting (sometimes multiple times) can resolve the problem somehow. (This is also in v.23 and 33)

I use win10 and stream from QNAP NAS (WLAN), the normal working from it is fine. When MC plays, there are no problems.

Surround Sound is working in all versions.  Your setup may be the problem.

Test from Windows Control Panel > Sounds to make sure it works there.

Don't forget to configure Windows Defender.

Test playback from a local drive, not the NAS.

We occasionally see hardware problems.  Here's an example:  https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,24031.msg975486.html#msg975486

Hi JimH, thank you, I will test.
But it definitly must be a break from 23 to 25, because it works in 23 and no more in 25.

This play interruption was in all versions, maybe it is a network problem, but after the first stop it plays the whole day   8)
One can not tell why.

Does it work from Windows in Control Panel > Sounds?

It would be good to try v33. It's probably the selection of the audio output device in Options. Jim has good advice to get Windows control panel working first. Then you need to pick the proper device using v33. We can try to help if you share more details. Thanks.

Here's a similar problem that was fixed by repairing the receiver:

Hi all, @JimH, @Matt
thank you. The windows sound settings are working as said, the testbutton in the above picture plays the sound (7.1) on all boxes/channels).
And as I said, it is from version 24 up, because I bought v33 and was wondering, why nothing  came out of SR. in v.23 IT DOES.
And as mentioned, (AIMP,) HQPlayer 5 are playing all channels, so it must be in the MC.
Thank you.

So if Windows can play 7.1, it means MC should be able to as well.

Double-check what audio output you have selected in Options > Audio. Try WASAPI.

You might also need to tell MC to output 7.1 in DSP Studio (unless you're playing 7.1 files already).

Happy you got it going! Not sure if the program could make that more obvious somehow? Thanks.
