Hi there. Not a new issue, but one that's been happening for a while. I've noticed a few movie files with duplicate library entries. Both entries point to the same physical file, and the only difference I can see is that the entries have different values in the Aspect Ratio field. e.g. One may have 16:9, the other is blank. Any idea why this is happening, and is there a way of spotting where it has already happened. If I find one now, I just delete one of the library entries

MC can import video Chapters as separate files since v32.0.25:
7. NEW: Added the ability to create particles from chapters in a video (requires a video that plays with chapters, does not work with DVDs currently).

Each imported entry will play a different chapter instead of starting from the beginning. This is controlled by the values in [Bookmarks] field.
My main lib doesn't do this auto-bookmarking, but I've seen this happen on a new/test library. To disable this I think you need to clear Options->General->Set files that automatically use bookmarks.

The wiki mentions another option called "use bookmarking" but I can't find it anywhere. Maybe it was replaced by that new one above.

Sorry, I'm probably being daft, but I'm not clear on how this relates to my issue. I'm seeing the same single physical file being imported more than once, at different times. The 2 library entries are exactly the same (as far as I can tell), except for the value of the aspect ratio field. Or am I missing something?

Yes, what I mentioned is about that and how to disable it.

If you play both files, to they both start at the start, or one of them starts further ahead?
Check the [Bookmark] field value on both entries, it should also be different.

Sorry, it took me a little while to find an example to check. If I find one I normally just delete one of the library entries, and it's then pot luck when the next one pops up. So I eventually found an instance of the issue on Spiderman far from home. It's a pretty standard MP4 file, and both library entries point to the same physical file, but have different Date Imported values. The Aspect Ratio values are also different. Interestingly, and its the first time I have seen this, but some other fields are different, including the Description field. But, the Bookmark field has the same value on both entries. Also, when selecting the library entries, both play from the same point in the file. Stop the playback when selected from one entry, and play the other one, and the file starts playing from where I left off. The files show as being imported in 2019 and 2023 which is before MC32.

Duplicates can happen if you're importing from the same location both as a drive and a network share.  Check your auto-import settings.

It's a client/server setup so everything is full network addresses. To be honest I wouldn't know what the local address of the file is. Auto import is all network addresses. When I get a chance I'll have a look at any files imported at the same time, to see if it was an isolated incident.
