Creative Zen - Filenames instead of song titles?
« on: January 03, 2003, 07:19:36 am »

First, I love Media Jukebox/Center. It meets pretty much all of my needs, and solves a lot of problems other software doesn't begin to touch.

That said, I just got myself a Creative Nomad Zen. I notice that when I transfer files using Media Center 9 it sends all of the information that it should (and transfers the music appropriately) except that instead of sending the song title ("Fallin'") as the title of the song, it sends what appears to be the filename (which in my case is "Alicia Keys - Songs in A Minor - Fallin'").

When I transfer the file using Creative Play Center the title is transferred correctly ("Fallin'").

All of the other fields are transferring correctly.

I did try to "Update tags from library" with no improvement.

Thanks.

Me too, but I have a Nomad Jukebox 3 (40Gb).

I'm using MC9 build 88 and version 3.0.27 of the plug-in on Windows 2000.

Many thanks.

If you get the latest Plug-in (3.0.28 ), this should be fixed.

Thanks,

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the quick turnaround, unfortunately it doesn't seem to work.

After much jittering about with Reinit/Disconn, I couldn't get it to work on my version of MC9.  Oddly enough the version shown in the Plug-in screen hasn't changed from 3.0.27 ... should this have been updated to 3.0.28?

I have had no problems at all transferring with PlagueCentre, so it's not the drivers.  I have uninstalled, rebooted and reinstalled the plugin to no avail ... any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Matt

I've had similar problems -- especially with the brand new version that was just released. When I try to transfer files from Media Center, it tells me that the player doesn't accept files of type 'mp3'

Shortly thereafter it seems that the program quits, but this could be for other reasons

Thanks again for the quick responses! The effort is much appreciated.

Matt,

Try redownloading the Plug-in, it should for sure say 3.0.28.

Kupmar,

This is a problem with MC 9, I can duplicate it.  I will have to address this tomorrow.

Everyone,

Please get MC v 9.0.93 and the new Nomad Plug-in (v3.0.29) and hopefully the Title/Name issue is resolved.

Thanks,

Hi Steve,

Many thanks.  I'll give it a go as soon as the next build is available again (pulled for stability reasons?)  ;D

Cheers,

For Nomad Jukebox and Zen, please be sure to get MC 9.0.95 and Plug-in 3.0.30.

Thanks,

Have 9.0.95 installed. When I try to install the newest version of the Creative plugin, I'm getting an error which says:

Failed to install package.

More Info: Failed to register object.

Kupmar,

This works for me on Windows 2000. Are you running XP? If so check the following...

http://www.mediajukebox.com/mediajukebox/pluginproblems.html

If it still does not work, there may be a problem with the download page and we will have to address in Monday.

If anyone is still having problems....

Please get version 9.0.96 (available in an hour or so) and then be sure to get the new Plug-in (3.0.31) which will be the only one compatible with 9.0.96.

Thanks,

Sorry Steve,

Hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but I still get the same issue that kupmar mentioned (Failed to register).

I have d/l and installed .96, and when I tried to install the plug-in (even after reboot), it gave the same error.

Many thanks in advance,

Matt

I'm continuing to have the same problem...no matter what I do, I can't get it to install the plugin (same message as above). I've even tried closing the program and running the file from the desktop. Until a few versions ago (9.0.8x?) I didn't have this problem.

I found a possible bug with the installation and fixed it in the current Jukebox Plugin (3.0.32). There is also a potential bug with the web page and that is being worked on. (edit -- and is fixed)

The Creative Nomad module installed correctly this time, and Media Center successfully loaded the list of files. However, now (more often then not) transferring a file to the device results in the program quiting before the transfer is complete.

Mark,

Please get the latest version of MC and the Plug-in version 3.0.33. I apologize for all the version changes recently, but things should settle down now.

After you have the latest versions, if you are still having upload problems, it is most likely a driver problem. I am using the standalone drivers from Creative's site and they work well. If you are still stuck, tell me what drivers you have installed and what Operating System and I will see if I can duplicate the problem and then recommend an appropriate driver to solve the issue.

Thanks,

Steve

I downloaded the latest version of both Media Center and the Creative Jukebox plug-in and (along with the conduit from Creative) files seem to generally be transferring.

New question: I see that I am able to view the playlists on the Zen but I don't seem to be able to change them from Media Center (for example, I haven't been able to figure out how to copy a playlist from Media Center to the Creative Zen, or even edit the playlists on the Zen.

Is this functionality supposed to be included?

Thank you so much for all of your help!

Mark,

If you Right-Click in the left tree on Playlists under Nomad, you will have options to add or rename playlists on your Zen. To add files to a playlist you can right click on them and choose "Add to Playlist".

My hunch is you would like to see this automated like a synchronization. This will be included in the near future.

Mark and Matt -

I'm considering purchase of the Zen, and use MJ...I see you've had some technical issues so far.  What would you tell me about the Zen in general - do you recommend it, assuming your MJ issues work?

Just wondering.  Also, if you don't mind, where did you purchase, and for how much?

thanks!
