Which version of MC for OSX has best synch for linked zones?
« on: March 22, 2025, 01:27:20 pm »

I believe I am running MC 23 and now just started using linked zones to be able to play one speaker with built in Dac for mids/highs and a second Dac feeding a sub.  Both systems have their own crossovers and delays, it’s just they fall out of sync quite quickly.

The only time I have to use linked zones is playing DSD files, since the bass Dac doesn’t support DSD, and it just get converted (I think osx is converting)

When playing PCM files I just have osx’s multi channel output in midi/audio handle feeding both dacs and it’s doesn’t fall out of sync.

My second issue is that when using linked zones with PCM, I tried inserting a delay I  one zone in MC but for some reason no matter what delay time I chose I never is able to actually get the right timing.  When I insert the delay on my Dac control software (RME totalmix) it works perfectly.  I’d prefer to have MC  do the delay on the sub.

Try giving the latest MC33 version a go and see what happens. Just make sure you do a library backup in MC23 then restore that library backup in MC33.

MC would be converting the DSD to PCM for playback. You can verify this by looking at the Audio Path.

Thanks - I was actually running MC31 but upgraded to 33 as per your suggestion.

One album I played in DSD stayed in synch well, but then other single tracks were way out.  I have to investigate a bit more.
