Screen goes black
« on: March 29, 2025, 09:14:21 pm »

JRiver v31
Windows 10/64Bit
nVidia 710 GFX
Audio is off the GFX CARD ( But it makes no diff if I use the OnBoard Audio off the Motherboard.
Latest drivers etc for the hardware

Now, the Machine runs absolutely flawlessly, if I use VLC to watch stuff, and I am having to use that right now.

But, If I have JRiver running, then every few seconds, the screen goes black. It stays black for some random time, maybe 2 seconds of 10 seconds, sometimes more, but it does this whether I am using any display mode, and even if I am just using the normal setup display and I am NOT runnig it full screen and its just saty there doing nothing, the screen goes black randomly.

If I quit JRiver, then its fine.

Even if JRiver is running in the background, doing nothing, and it is minimized... Then the screen goes black?

This is clearly something to do with the GFX Drivers, because if I uninstall them, then the screen does not go black!

But its ONLY JRiver that does it???

Anyone know of this issue or if there is a known solution?

Your card is over 10 years old, it likely doesn't support some features that MC needs.
You can try disabling Hardware Acceleration in MC's Options>Video.
You can also try changing the video mode from "Red October JRVR" to Standard or MadVR modes, which should work better with older tech.
