Help with JRiver Media Centre crashes
« on: April 09, 2025, 01:46:45 pm »

This has been plaguing me for a while, often when watching a movies played from MC over DLNA to my Oppo 203 Bluray it will randomly stop and I will find MC has crashed, as in the program has disappeared without any error message.
This has happened with many different movies over a period of months, so it's not file specific.
When I restart MC and restart playback just before the crash it plays fine through the point of the previous crash.
I've attached a log of the latest crash.
Hope someone can help.

More likely than not its something unique to your Windows installation unfortunately. Did you trying rolling back to a Restore Point before you had issues?

I find Windows lasts maybe 3 years at most before I have to wipe it and start again. Made easier now as I have moved to Linux and run I Windows in a VM for the bare essentials that do not have a linux equivalent.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I forgot to say I recently changed my server hardware and O/S. Previously I was using Windows Server 2012, now I am on a clean install of Windows 11, on completely different hardware. Both systems suffer from the same problem.
If the JRiver guys are not able to see something in my logs then I will try a clean install of MC and rebuild my library from scratch, as importing my library is the only common thing between the systems.

Thanks Jim, that wiki article suggests that any crash dump should automatically be included in the Report Problem zip file.
But there is no crash dump in my zip file so I guess I didn't get one.
