NEW: 3DLUT Support for HDR in JRVR
« on: April 14, 2025, 07:38:13 am »

Description
We've added an option to the JRVR renderer to calibrate HDR output with a 3DLUT.  .cube and madVR .3dlut are both supported.

Instructions
It works as simple as SDR 3DLUTs before.  Just point JRVR at the file with a new separate 3DLUT option in the JRVR -> Output -> Calibration settings.

Calibrating with a 3DLUT should be done with help of calibration hardware, eg. a colorimeter, and calibration software - a free option is DisplayCAL.

HDR 3DLUTs should be designed for PQ BT.2020 in/out, and either be in .cube format or madVR .3dlut format

If the "Output SDR as HDR" feature is enabled in JRVR, would that mean this one HDR 3dLUT would work for both SDR & HDR vids?

Since 3DLUTs depend on the output mode and the screen and not the content played, yes.
