web radio - HowTo?
« on: April 24, 2025, 03:34:47 am »

Hi,

Done quite some searching, found this link Panel, went to wiki to read. Then found "Connected Media". Followed the explanation and ended up with a new section in the left hand pane of JRiver Media Center. This seems ok and the way it should be.

But then ..
How do I add a radio URL?

E.g. the following URL:
https://www.vrt.be/vrtmax/livestream/audio/radio-2-antwerpen/
Here's a clickable link

Following the link in e.g. Safari, immediately opens the radio site and show its play / control buttons.
When I do JRiver > Menu > File > Open URL and paste the above URL, I get a pop-up "There is nothing to play"

When I try to add the same URL under "Streaming" I get a black empty box...

You can save it as a playlist

Kindly elaborate a bit on that please?

From scratch:
Where do I begin?
- From the File menu > Open URL?
- From the Playlist section > Select the newly created Playlist > right click???

I've tried dragging the url from the radio on to it,
In the righthand pane I get a "Web Media" where I can't enter a URL either?

I have no clue..

## Solution

As I could not find an easy answer, I searched for how to do this using VLC.
Then found this

In short: It seams a stream seems to be formatted in a specific way.
So apparently pasting my example URL from the starting post works in a browser but not in JRiver.

So you need to search for a "stream" link, which is mostly available allthough might need some digging and shoveling get it working.
According to the examples I found, they need to end in either .m3u or .pls.

Code: [Select]
Here's an example:
