Author Topic: Online YADB lookup fails more often than not - how to change lookup database?  (Read 171 times)

I am so confused.
I know the lookup is working as it finds some CD info
But many do not lookup - very common such as Joe Walsh "The Smoker You Drink" or Diana Krall "All for you" - Tom Petty - the list goes on.
I can only assume the YADB database is woefully lacking after all these years?
Am I missing something?
Please help.

EDIT: Yes, I've checked the wiki and googled. Looks like it can't be changed. I guess I'm screwed. I need to re-rip my CD library and right now I'm running about 25% lookup success rate. I don't know what to do, I can't be typing in individual track info for upwards of 500 CD's.
Whew. I'm still open to suggestions if anyone can help.

It might have to do this this: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,136204.0.html

I imagine MC28 might be too old now and server access including CD lookup doesn't work correctly or at all anymore (if it still works, I imagine it won't for long). Might be worth trying MC34 and see if it can find the CD info that MC28 can't. If it doesn't you might try starting a new topic in the MC34 section.

Wow, thanks for the reply. Ya, I'm an old guy on SS and although I'm not short on money - I checked and I'm not eligible for an upgrade - it's full price again.
Ya, again thanks for the reply, too bad it's not something that can be changed, near as I can tell it's just a normal web lookup?
Per the info in the post that you've linked, it's "too expensive" for JRiver to maintain. Ya, well JRiver looks to be too expensive (I've paid for several versions already) for me to maintain too, so I'll move on (LOL, I said that last time but thought I'd give it another go).

Thank you.

You should be able to get upgrade price

"You can use your Registration Code from any previous version of JRiver Media Center.  You can retrieve your Registration Code from our server (see below). "
"Windows Upgrade (direct link)     $24.98."

  • Where did I put my teeth?

lepa is correct.  You can use your old license when you upgrade.

Thanks again - I found I had copied in the key from either version 18 or 21 and saw it wasn't eligible.
Double checked my keys, entered the correct version 28 key and of course you guys are right about the price, so I did buy the upgrade.
Installed 34 and first thing checked the Don Henley CD and it immediately correctly identified all the CD info.

WHEW. I had already installed (but not purchased) two other media player\management options and I'm glad I didn't buy - I'll uninstall those right away.

Thanks again. This thread is done!

Could have been a typo.  Those versions are eligible.
