MPC Plugin situation-mpc users pls read
« on: January 10, 2003, 11:45:46 am »

Trelane who for some time now has made the mpc plugins for MJ, has chosen not to do this anymore.

He has made this choice out of personal reasons, so we just have to respect this and thank him a lot for all of his good work.

Please don't contact him to make updates, as he no longer does this.

The situation is that we are in need of a person who is willing and able to provide with mpc plugins for MC9.

If you want to do this, please give Matt from JRiver a line: matt @ jriver.com

Matt will have the source code on monday, so don't expect any replies from him until then.

Jesper.

We can understand that but in that case Matt should contact CASE. He is the only mpc developer working on plug ins.  This is his email: case@mobiili.net.  Matt for your cat's sake email CASE. ?

Thanks, Trelane for all the work you did.  Hope you'll be around now and then.

Also, don't forget that even if the plug-in is not updated for awhile you can still use whatever is the currently recommended version of the MPC command line encoder (mppenc.exe) with MJ/MCs external encoder option.

Yup you can use the external encoder but don't forget that the actual ( MJ/MC ) input MPC plugin don't support APE2 tags only APE1 but that is no problem to me ;D

For MJ or MC use the command line:

--quality 6 --xlevel --ape1 %IN %OUT

this will convert your files in MPC @ Xtreme with Xlevel

does that mean that you today can use the existing mpc input plugin with the latest MC version?

well I guess not, tried latest unicode version on another machine, and MC crashes when trying to install mpc input plugin, I guess it's because of the unicode change?

I'm running 9.0.89, last version before unicode, and it still works.

But from now on MC don't work with mpc, unless plugins are updated.

And right now, there is no one to do it.

If I understand right we cannot play anymore mpc files with MC for an indeterminate period ?!

I have thousand of mpc files so I am really anxious to know what JRiver has to say about this problem.

They (Matt) recognize the problem, and want it solved.
As I understand, primary priority is to get somebody to do the plugins.
Source code will be handed over from Trelane to matt, so matt can "hat" somebody externally to do it.

If nobody volunteers to do the job, I think and hope that JRiver (matt or nikolay) will do an attempt to do it themselves.

I think we will get our plugins.

Right now i don't use the MJ MPC encode plugin, instead i use the MPC pugin from case's site version 1.14Beta i use it with MJ like an external encoder and works great, but when MPC sv8 comes out there must be a development of the MJ MPC encoder and decoder plugin, but we don't know when sv8 comes up only Frank Klemm

That's a good and fine way, as well as using the internal plugin, when you are using MJ8.

From now on, when using MC9, you can't do it either way. Just wanted to stress that, since this is MC9 forum.

I agree that when sv8 comes out (if...) plugins should definetely be updated. But an update is also necessary now, for those who are enrolling on the Media Center ship.

Which version of MC is MPC broken in?  I'm still using Media Jukebox PLUS 9.0.88 and have no problem playing/encoding MPC.

Hi Folks,

What's going on ?
I'm coming back from a 2 weeks internet free period and what  do I read : MPC does not work
anymore with MC9 ??
That's pretty bad news for my large mpc file collection :(

I'm still using MC9.88 and mpc works OK. So I read it is because of the unicode transition.
Well, well I will quickly test the new build and see for myself,
hmm, in a few days cause to morrow I'm flying to Amsterdam !

Did anybody tried the winamp mpc plugin with 9.95 ? Does it work with MC9.95 ?

Mama mia, that's a rough start for a new year...

BTW Happy new year to you all... or is it too late ?
