trying to set up a music server for network
« on: January 01, 2003, 01:56:47 pm »

I'm trying to set up a music server for several pcs - all running mc9 - on a network. I would like all of my ape/mp3 files and mc9 custom categories (i.e. composer, soloist) to reside on that machine, and have all of the other machines read them. Most difficult is having the other machines recognize the new categories that I create as I rip new cds onto the server. Please keep it simple.
Thanks.

I would have to agree with this.  It doesn't appear that MS has a method to notify the clients of new content...

Also on the same note I would like to be able to open my media library as well as a network one at the same time.  Is this possible?

Thanks,
Matthew

Not at this time.  It's one or the other.

After ripping, you'll need to stop and re-start sharing on Media server.  Then disconnect and re-connect the clients.

Jim,
While I understand this is the current process, what needs to happen to get this in the list of things to change, or on the list of things for a later version :)

Thanks,
Matthew
