Need help burning with Media 9.0
« on: December 20, 2002, 11:41:34 am »

Hi everyone,
I am new to Media Center but have heard great things. I am having a huge problem trying to burn audio CD's from my files. I have read the FAQ and the help section but no success yet.
I am able to use my Roxio Easy CD creator to burn CD's, but I wanted to have the capability to use MediaCenter since I paid for it.
I have a 1.4Ghz processor, 512mb ram and running XP home edition. My burner is an Acer 8x4x32 and is supported. When I try to burn CD's I have the following settings:
4X speed for burner I have lowered the speed no help
The only boxes checked are eject after write and decode files directly to CD. I have my Norton anti virus disabled and no other programs running. I have wasted way too many CD's but I thought I could solve the problem myself. My most recent unsuccessful burn revealed the following message:
-Logical block address out of range-
Thanks in advance Mike

The post you referred me to, JohnT's advice, was for Windows 98, I mentioned in my original post I am using Windows XP. My question is: Will his suggestion also work for XP??

turn on "test" and then they will not be wasted.

i did atempt to burn with MJ's burner this weekend, where it was working at one time now it is not.

I did get the Goldenhawk burner to work since i do Have ASPI installed, I unchecked The generic Burner, and the Internal ASPI.

And i got a good burn.

I am also using Windows XP, but another 40x burner.

Maybe if you use External ASPI it might help.

I need to do more testing but, i did get it to burn with the generic burner but the disk had no files on it, it did have a play list and empty dirs.

i am using 9.0.88

I have had some recent successes!! I removed the file
-wnaspi32ddl not in use- from the program folder and placed it in the trash. I have been able to burn 3 CD's without any problems so far.  :D

If you're writing data CD's, you'll need build 9.0.89 since there was a major bug fix for this. The Goldenhawk burner choice is gone in 9.0.89, and it always uses the internal Aspi.

Thats why I did not upgrade along with some burning problems some users were having with 9.0.89

I figured I would let the bilge pump to work a bit first before I upgraded (Currently In Auto)
