How do I get it to display videos?
« on: December 15, 2002, 10:52:08 am »

I must have done something to the settings, and I can't get it back. I get audio only when I play a video, no visual. I can't find any option to turn it back on!

Yes, that takes me to the playing video display. I must not understand something -- why doesn't it automatically go there and show the video when I choose "Play"? I browse my video files, right-click one and choose "Play", then I have to go up and pick "View", then "Playing Now", in order to actually see it.

Newbie and baffled.... ?

In version 9, you can set:

Jump on Play to Full screen if it has a display.

(In tools/optons/general.)

But I agree with you that we could handle it better.  One problem we have is that we don't always know whether it's audio or video.  Some file types can be either.

Thanks, Jim. I discovered that option just as you were writing your reply :-)

Yes, it's hard to handle everything, but in fact that option was precisely what I wanted -- just didn't know where to look for it! I think in my newbie  thrashing about, I had set it to "None" at some earlier point, not realizing what effect it would have on the videos I had just imported. All is well now.

Jim,
Any chance of letting us be able to configure which one each type is?
For me personally, ALL my .m2v files are movies. For others these might be audio.

Add this into a 'file configuration option' screen where we could set what type each file extension is, set the icons for the files (or at the very least groups), the 'Type' for Windows Explorer which are all now set to just 'Media Jukebox File' etc.
Would be a really useful set of options to have :)
