Install version 8 and then use the MJ help section to install the license.

In a similar problem, I just had to reinstall Win2K, and while my MJ7 directory still exists on another drive, it is no longer functional.  (Says Falied to initialize registration control).

My registration file is MediaJukebox6.RRG, so I don't have the same option to just switch to version 8.  And apparently, I did not save the version 7 installer.

So, is a version 7 archive available somewhere?  Or is there an easy way to repair what's missing on the C drive?

Thanks,
- John

> is version 7 archive available somewhere...

D'oh, sorry, found that in the FAQ.

I reinstalled v7.2, and almost everything came back up including my library and license.  The only piece that seems to be missing now, is my LAME encoder.  It says it's not installed, although I still have the enc_lame.dll in the plugins folder.

The download link to reinstall enc_lame.mjp says "object not found".

I tried adding the existing enc_lame.dll, but that says only Input, DSP, and Vis are supported.

I also tried installing the new MP3 encoder, even though it said it was for v8, and even though it seemed to install and run okay, the encoded files it produces sound like random jiberish.

So I'd still appreciate a note on how to restore my LAME encoding.

Thanks,
- John

I don't have a version 7 license.  Mine is from version 6.  So I'm hoping to restore my version 7 functionality.

The frogger:
You can select "External encoder" in the Encoders section of Options and use the latest version of lame.exe, instead of using MJ's internal encoder. At least, that's what I do, and it works for me.
Let me know if you need more details to set this up. It is worth a try if you are happy with MJ 7. I still use it and have few problems with it.
