Playlist Filter Problem
« on: October 30, 2003, 02:18:23 pm »

I recently created a very large playlist (about 4000 files).  From that playlist, I wanted to filter out all files containing the word "incomplete", so I entered the word in the Search Filter box, selected all of the displayed files, and then removed the text from the search filter.  I would have expected the remainder of the playlist to reappear, but instead I got nothing.  Further, I could not undo the deletion or find any other way to get my playlist back.

Version 9.1.290
I'm on a 2.8 Ghz P4, 1Gbyte RDRAM, 500 Gbytes HD.

you should do this in a smart list i do it all the time and it works fine.

Sample:

Artist: Cbs Radio Mystery Theater

Modify:

Add Duplicates, "Name"

Remove Duplicates

remove the dupe rule and all files are back.

================================

when you do this in the playlist MC9 things you want to change the list.

The issue is this, if a custom playlist is created then filtered using the search criteria,  the playlist comes back when the criteria are removed.  if the playlist is edited (tracks removed, for instance) then the rest of the playlist does not come back when the filter is removed.

If the filter is a one-way action (will not restore after removing criteria) it should behave that way whether the resulting list is edited or not.  Currently it behaves inconsistently.

It may seem like a small issue, but anyone who creates lots of playlists should like the abilty to use the search box as a means of interactively editing the list. At a minimum, it shouldn't blow away the whole list without warning just because a temporary filter is applied
