I'm confused. Previously, you had said that those who had purchased 8.0 licenses before Dec. 1 would be able to upgrade to 9.0 at no extra charge (an offer that I thought was quite generous). Today, however, I received an email telling me that in order to upgrade to MC (9.0), I would need to pay $7.98. Did I miss something?

No, you are correct: if you purchased 8.0 before Dec 1st,(actually I forget the exact moment) there is no extra charge.
