Just poking around and found that Slimp3 has released a new device.

Here is some info taken from their website:

Of particular interest is the WAV/Aiff option.  Now I can connect it up to a DAC and have extremely good quality music anywhere in my house.

These kind of devices are becoming popular. Slashdot reviewed the Oritron Networked DVD player. Any of y'all tried these yet (apart from the Barix that was mentioned a couple of weeks ago)?

Kind of did a DIY job myself.

Got a device which can beam scart around the house and an x10 remote.  Built a PC from spares and friends spares, installed MC and girder, inserted into the LAN.  Hey-presto got myself a nice little system  for listening to my whole music collection, video files, VCD's, DVD's and images - all in the comfort of an armchair with the buzz of the PC far away in another room - total cost £100.

All I need now is to wait a few versions until hairstyle has been worked on some more to make the system even better.

I have a friend w/ 3 of the original Slimp3's in his house.  He absolutely loves them.  Originally, he was going to set up an audio server in his basement and run analog wires all through his home.   He'd even bought the cabling for the analog runs when I showed him this device and he did some research and got it.  He then got 2 more.

As for the devices that do a bit more, the KISS Network DVD players look quite interesting.  They even have one that has its own digital amp inside.

Quite interested in the mediaready 4000 device myself - looks promising.  Have to research more though.

Hmm... x-mas!

Have to find out whether or not it can play lossless music... and be driven by MC.

I've been following this thread and others like it (here and at AVS forum) to try and settle on a A/V distribution system for my home.  I've got a central server and a few client computers, but it is now time to pick a system to tie everything together with my stereos and home theatre.  Whatever I choose has to have the following characteristics:

1. Must work seamlessly with MC
2. Must be able to play/distribute lossless audio files (ape or flac)
3. Must be able to play/distribute video
3. Must be multizoned, but capable of whole house synchronization
4. Must be controllable from any computer and from a Pocket PC or other handheld

So far I haven't found a system that does everything I am looking for, although some components are getting close.
