Can't copy/download files to my MP3 player
« on: October 06, 2002, 01:56:38 pm »

Hi there,

I tried mentioning this problem on another thread, but got no response. I hope for better luck this time...

I have a Pine D'music MP3 player, connected by USB to my Windows 98 SE machine running MJ 8.0.372

I can copy files to the player using the Pine supplied software (Palmp3 manager) but MJ does not see it under CD, DVD, & Handhelds. Can you help?

Great product, by the way.

Thanks.  There are two categories of players that MJ can support.  Those that for which there are plug-ins we've written, and those for which their drivers can create a virtual drive.

Simon,

Go to "My Computer" and see if your Pine player shows up as a removable drive letter. If it does not, we will have to write a Plug-in for it. Please let us know either way. I would be the person who will need to write the Plug-in for it if it is necessary, so feel free to email me directly ( steve @ jriver.com)

Thanks,

Wow, I am SO impressed with your response. You're really going to write a a plug in for it!

You've got a convert for life.

(By the way, there was no drive assigned to the mp3 player)

More info on the player at http://www.pinegroup.com/pdf/L1/P133.pdf

Many many thanks

Simon,

In order to write the Plug-in, we will need to get some updated information from Pine. I can try getting in touch with them and see where we get from there. I have a few other projects that I have to complete before I can look at this, but I will come back to it. Please feel free to drop me an email to check on this.

Thanks,

Steve

Simon,

I have received no reply from Pine, so I have been unable to move forward on this.

Sorry,

By the way, I'm still using Media (now) Centre, a customer from V7 to V12, I'm on my second iPod after selling that first awful MP3 player.

Just saying Hi.
