License Upgrade
« on: December 10, 2003, 05:00:35 am »

Hi.
I purchase a MC8 License any time ago!
Now I'm using MC9.1 version.
How can I upgrade this Licence? How many it costs?
Can I upgrade it to MC10 version? How many it costs?
Tkx!

The only option for people in your (and my) situation right now is a full brand new license.

I think a few of us are hoping JRiver offer some sort of introduction price for us (like $30 or so) as well like they are doing for the v9 upgraders but as of yet there is no such thing.

It would make sense since all the people buying now are going to be dealing with lots of bugs and problems and testing the software and helping them out so a special Beta (well really Alpha) tester price would seem logical.

It does seem odd that v9 licencees not only get a 19.95 upgrade charge but also a 50% discount option now..

v8 licencees get niether an upgrade offer or a discount.  In this situation loyal customers essentially get no incentive over a new user.

I am in an odd position where I bought a licence with the earliest v9 betas and it bought a v8 licence, so I will need to pay full price for both v9 (all I used) and v10.

I am in the same position but when I consider I have used MC now for well over a year, and in that time it has been used for at least 1/2 hours per day, plus running three or four discos for which I have earned money, and the price to buy a new license is only just over £20 I see no worry with paying the full license fee.  Hell and Office upgrade is £250 and you only get a limited number of improvements and once you recieve the product it is pretty much a closed code base...

No problems here with coughing up the dough!!

Why do you need to pay full price for both v9 and v10?
If you want to continue using v9 won't your existing v8 license continue to work there?

Can you still purchase a v8 to v9 upgrade for $19.95?
Then, participate in the v9 to v10 special for $10.

The total cost would the be $30 you are suggesting would be OK.

Interesting how the posting frequency explodes if anyone says "prices, anyone?".

Somehow I had the feeling that there would be some form of discount for the MJ8 to MC10 upgrade . . .

Could it be because it is nearing Christmas and the 'time for giving'?

Or perhaps because JRiver knows that a happy, loyal 'core group' of users can do alot for a product's marketing?

You think maybe they are getting soft and too used to some of our faces hanging around here and didn't want to see some 'friends' as well as customers leave unhappy?

I think it is just because the people at JRiver are awesome . . . . they are great at what they do, they try to excel and be the best, and they listen and care about what we the customers/users feel and have to say.  Where else can you find that anymore?

Thanks to all at JRiver! May you all have a wonderful, joyous Holiday Season and a happy, healthy, prosperous New Year.

The MC8 to MC10 upgrade of $12.50 is great news but I do I get it?

Following Help/Buy Media Center takes to to a $40 page.

Help appreciated.

It will be available in build 10.0.13 which hasn't been released yet.

Thank You!

Very nice!  Love the look, I'll probably take advantage of the upgradeable license when it's avaible with the next build.

And people wonder why J river does not put out info untill it happens.

Look at all the confusion about licenses in a matter of a few days.
