"can not create plugin" error followed by

"Can not create plugin"
I get this "information" message followed by

Media Jukebox.exe -Application Error which reads "instruction at "0x00404ac3" referenced memory at 0x000000000" The memory could not be read"

This happens in 2 instances. One, when there's no audio CD in my master drive and MC is open. I put a CD in and whammo... OR, if there's a CD in already, and I open MC, and eject the disc.

This does not seem like normal behavior. I'm currently using the 9.1 evaluation version. So far, I like MC, but there are a fair share of quirks which is making me iffy about buying it. However, this is the first real bug Ive encountered, and I'd like to know what can be done about it.  Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks much...

Its talking about a plugin but doesn't sound like a plugin problem.

What plugins do you have installed? What version of MC (which build)?

V. 9.1.308 (not registered)

As for plugins, All the default ones plus 2 others which are :

MP3 VBR plugin
External encoder plugin

Oh I forgot to mention, (cuz it was late last night) that after I get the message, the program crashes. Not cool. Veeery annoying.

That's it.

Thanks.

Try visiting the plug-ins page here and downloading again.

After having uninstalled the 2 plug-ins I mentioned up above, I tried to reproduce the problem. Unfortunately, it was NOT a problem to reproduce it.  After the uninstall, I rebooted MC, then ejected the disc that was in my main drive, and got the same ''can not create plug-in*."

I guess I can uninstall and reinstall MC all together, but this doesn't raise my confidence in it any. I'd like to know why it does this, so that I can correct anything which may be wrong on my end, or at least know if there are any conflicting software/hardware problems.

Thanks again.,

You have some plug-in missing.  Could it be one of the third party plug-ins?  Look carefully in MC's Plug-in Manager and uninstall there.

I was having the same exact problem.  I uninstalled MC, rebooted and reinstalled MC and it solved the problem.

Jim, I did what you said before you suggested it, but to no avail. Jorge, I was thinking of doing this, and though it "solved" the problem for you, don't you feel as if this is a temporary fix ? After all, who knows why it happened...hitting cancel doesn't let you debug as indicated, so I'd still be uneasy with this. Especially since if you have to do this sort of thing every time an annoying bug popped up, you have to start from scratch.

I don't see fresh installs as a valid solution, only a way to avoid the real problem. Too bad (you know what I mean) that this probably isn't 100% reproduceable,or else a fix might be viable.

The problem happened for me after installing v10.  I assumed I may have had a bad install, so that is why I took the course of action that I used.  I didn't see anyone else report the same problem until now.

The only plug-in I was using was Playing Now, so I don't know what the issue was.  I run MC on another computer with the same set-up and MC is running fine.  I am not sure the problem is anything serious.

PlayingNow interrogates the MC database 3 times a second as soon as the plugin is created.   Maybe MC can't cope with this when it's analysing a CD?

The reason PlayingNow has to do this is that MC does not provide any notification when it changes track.  Therefore I have to "poll" the currently playing now queue.

There ya go, another item for the v10 wishlist   ;)

LOL ... I asked for it over 18 months ago so I doubt it will ever get done.

The SDK could really do with some enhancements.

I totally un-installed MC and re-installed it. I did not download ANY plug-ins, nor do I see anything by the name of "playingnow" in the plugin manager.  What am I missing here ? Oh, sorry, the only things I have installed are the LAME encoders. And that was upon being prompted by MC when I chose the MP3 encoder setting.

i've been getting this error too.
I uninstalled MC and then reinstalled.  that fixed it.

I then went playing with options to see what triggered it.
it would appear that it has something to do with setting ripping to secure ... i'll look into it later tonight.

it does not seem to be a plugin problem.

Seviien, you must have a magical connection with my MC because it's not doing it now ...hehe.  I did switch the ripping setting from secure to normal, shut down, restarted, and it was cool. I then switched back to secure mode, and it is still good. That was a couple hours ago, and I'm going to try it again now......Still good ta' go !

Weird. Guess this thing has a mind of its own eh ?

I saw this the other day too...

I wanted the file converter to make me some mpc's, and as soon as I chose the mpegplus plugin, I got the failed to create message.

I didn't do any uninstalling at all, I just hit the plugins page and "zoomed" it down, restarted MC and not seen the error since.

(I have secure rip set, and it was also the first time I changed encoders since installing v10)

I have ripped a few CDs since I performed a clean reinstalled of MC and I have not encountered the error message since.  Everything appears to be working fine.
