Unexplained Crashes on XP
« on: December 02, 2002, 08:38:58 am »

Here's something I found on a newsgroup that may be a solution for crashing in XP.  The user reported crashing when he tried to use XP Help and that "When I installed a program called Media Jukebox 9.0, I found that clicking certain links within that program also caused a similar crash and error message."

Solution:

I suggest you create a new account to check if the profile was corrupted.

If the issue still exists, you may use the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard to backup
the files and settings and then format and reinstall Windows XP.

Hope the above helps.

TO:  MR JACK WANG
       MICROSOFT ON LINE SUPPORT

Dear Sir

I use XP Professional and I too have unexplained " corruption " in following MicroSoft Products -

Help and Support Centre
< I can access individual Help Topics via
Windows Help Directory but the Shortcut
   won't work >

 Media Player.
 < despite reload I get " internal error " message >

 I.E 6

< works, accesses update site, but won't
      download updates >

Yes, I have reloaded the whole system, but I refuse to do this anymore - too much work with application programs

I wish to state that as far as I am genuinely aware my case has nothing to do with Media JukeBox. I repeat - nothing to do with mJ. The MJ Video is linked to Media and was working fine prior to the Media crash

You may reply to me at
< studentii@bigpond.com >

I cannot find a direct Email contact for MicroSoft

With regards

Not a real technical guy but I do recognize the occasional co-enk-e-dink.

I don't suppose you guys are supporting Real Media One?

I've found that in addition to Real uncontrollably taking over every aspect of my system that I encountered the same errors being described.  The good news is that they went away when I uninstalled Real.  I only install Real when I have to play Real media otherwise I uninstall it as soon as possible.
