MC 10 failed to import .mp4 (AAC) and iTrip files
« on: February 25, 2004, 10:32:58 pm »

Just installed beta copy of MC 10. Unable to Import clips from the iTunes music store (.mp4) though they will play if I drag-and-drop to MC via Explorer. Problem is that the manual drag alternative is a major hassle since I will have to give special treatment to these files when reimporting library after occassional clearings. Same problem with FM frequency files from the Griffin iTrip (used for iPod) which are in fact .mp3 files. Very strange. Please advise, thanks.

Check the file types you are importing.

You can also find the files in Explorer and do right click/Media Center/import.

I am importing AAC files from iTunes and specialized .mp3 files (FM requencies used with iTrip for iPod). Neither will import, though all are checked as supported for Import in MC Options setup. Given repeated need to import all supported files under one single command (Tools > Import Media), the manual importing method you suggested is not viable. Please advise why the Import Media command will not accept these supported files and the fix. Thanks.

The iTrip frequency files are short sequences of beeps. Do you have "Don't import short files (under 5 seconds)" turned on in your import dialogue?

I cannot replicate this problem. Can you send a file that fails to import or a link to a clip which fails so I can check this out?

Thanks,

Fixed. You were correct abou the 5 sec. file length for the iTrip files. With AAC, I thought by checking AAC in File Association setup it would permit importing of same; then I stumbled upon the Advanced Search pull down in Import Files and noticed another list that did not have AAC selected. Suggestion: you might make this list part of the Options pull down so I doesn't get missed and/or combine with File Assocation. Thanks for your help.
