Media Center starts up with Windows
« on: March 06, 2004, 08:58:44 am »

Installed v10.0.84 over 9.1 and now every time I start Windows, Media Center starts up. I can't find any settings for why this should be. It's not in my startup folder.

Any ideas what I've done wrong?

Could MC be starting up because a file it's associated with?  Is it playing anything?  Go to Playing Now to see.

Are any other MC programs in the startup?  Media Server or Media Scheduler?

Try uninstalling and reinstalling.

Also try Start>Run and type msconfig.  See if there's anything related to MC on the start up tab.

Thank you both although it was JLee who got me there. I found that another program I recently installed called MP3 Playlist Edito (great program by the way) had a preference set to load into it my last playlist when Windows started. So it was loading an m3u file which obviously caused Media Center to run.

Phew!  :)

Thanks again

In that case it was JimH that got you there too.  Glad you got it sorted.

Of course, I'm happy to credit both. The point to mention though, in case it happens to anyone else, is that the m3u file it was loading was empty and hence didn't show up in Now Playing. It was msconfig that led me too it.

I couldn't have done it without either of you!
